Analyst Ann Hewitt and Sergeant Ray Green Receive LEIU Executive Board Service Award
December 06, 2008

This award is given to those individuals who have served on the LEIU Executive Board for one year or more and is presented at the end of their term of service on the board. Two awards were presented at the LEIU 53rd Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts in April, 2008. They were provided to:

Ann Hewitt--was the secretary for the Organized Crime Unit in the California Department of Justice from 1999 until 2007. In 2004 she took on additional responsibilities as the LEIU CCA/Recording Secretary. During her tenure as the LEIU CCA/Recording Secretary Ms. Hewitt was responsible for all of the administrative duties for the LEIU Executive Board, the CCA, and the membership. She created agendas and drafted the minutes from LEIU Executive Board meetings, distributed them to the membership, created LEIU bulletins, and was responsible for much of the mail communication with the membership. Ms. Hewitt frequently dealt with member agency representatives assisting them with roster changes, directing them to appropriate personnel for investigative assistance, and helping them through the application process. She always did her work professionally, displaying great enthusiasm, character, and work ethic.

Although Ms. Hewitt is no longer the CCA/Recording Secretary, she remains with the California Department of Justice. She was promoted to a Criminal Intelligence Analyst position where she currently serves as the State’s INTERPOL Liaison.

Ray Green--was a member of the LEIU Executive Board for six years. He first began his service on the board as the Northwest Zone Vice Chairman in February, 2002. He became the Zone Chairman in May, 2002. Sergeant Green spent most of the past decade working tirelessly to improve the profession of intelligence locally, regionally and nationally. Locally, Sergeant Green led the well-respected King County Sheriff’s Office intelligence units for many years. Regionally, after the September 11th attacks, Sergeant Green established and led the multi-agency King County Regional Criminal Intelligence Group.

Sergeant Green also served on the State of Washington’s Governor’s Committee on Homeland Security Intelligence Sub-committee. In that important role, he was the principle drafter of the Statewide Integrated Intelligence Sharing Plan that created the Washington Joint Analytical Center and nine regional intelligence groups to connect the entire state. Sergeant Green also played the leading role in establishing a robust statewide intelligence training system in Washington state for both intelligence detectives and managers, and his intelligence expertise is recognized statewide to such an extent that he was placed on the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police Intelligence Training Committee.

We thank both Ms. Hewitt and Sergeant Green for their valued service to both the membership of LEIU as well as its Executive Board.
